PADI Open Water Diver

Course Details

PADI Open Water Diver (OWD)

Presentation

The PADI Open Water Diver is the first full scuba certification. You study the theory online at home, then complete the practical training on board during your trip. Once certified, you can dive with a buddy to 18 metres without a professional guide, anywhere in the world. The course runs on selected routes where conditions suit training, and fits alongside the trip’s regular dive programme.

How it works on board

Training runs over 3 days of your trip. It starts in shallow, sheltered water, where you learn and practise the core skills, then moves on to four open water dives with your instructor. The rest of the group follows its own dive plan while you train, and you share meals, briefings and surface intervals with everyone on board. Once certified, you join the group on dives that match your new level. We only offer the course on routes where conditions are calm enough for a first certification.
